ExtraHop, the leader in cloud-native network detection and response, today announced that it has expanded its relationship with global technology distributor Westcon-Comstor to bring advanced threat detection, investigation, and response capabilities to Indonesia and the Philippines. In addition, leading IT infrastructure solution partner Virtus Technology Indonesia (VTI) has joined the ExtraHop reseller community, adding network detection and response (NDR) to its cybersecurity portfolio.
Cyber threats have been on the rise in ASEAN due to the pandemic and work-from-home arrangements. The reported financial damage caused by ransomware in ASEAN exceeded 1 billion USD in 2020. This number is likely even higher, as many businesses are unwilling to report cases. Indonesia was hit particularly hard, with businesses in the country suffering approximately 1.3 million ransomware attacks––accounting for almost half of the ransomware cases detected in the region.
In response to the rapid proliferation of advanced threat activity across the region, many business organizations are turning to NDR to provide critical visibility into advanced threat activity like ransomware and help them respond to incidents quickly to minimize disruption. As a result, the NDR market is now the second-fastest-growing segment in cybersecurity according to IDC Research.
With AI-based threat detection, investigation, and forensic-level incident response, ExtraHop is at the forefront of the NDR market. Through partnerships with organizations like Westcon-Comstor and VTI, the company is now expanding rapidly in ASEAN, helping to meet the growing demand for NDR in this major global market. ExtraHop already partners with Westcon-Comstor in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and China, serving customers including Bank Rakyat Indonesia and the Philippines’ Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
“With our strategic relationship with ExtraHop, we’ve taken a step further toward our vision to become one of Indonesia’s premier IT infrastructure solution providers and a valued partner for businesses and end-users. ExtraHop Reveal(x) has shown to be effective in helping organizations in detecting threats, investigating incidents, and quickly stopping breaches,” said Erwin Kuncoro, President Director of Virtus Technology Indonesia. “We hope that ExtraHop’s innovative cybersecurity offering will assist more local businesses in delivering cyber defense protection against all types of cyber threats without compromising important assets and data.”
“Cyber attackers have the advantage because they only have to be right once. Companies, on the other hand, have to be right 100% of the time to defend themselves. With ExtraHop, organizations can reclaim the advantage with advanced threat detection and response across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. As Indonesia and the Philippines face increasing cyber threats, our partnerships in the region will enable us to better support businesses in protecting their operations.” explained David Sajoto, Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan at ExtraHop, in Westcon APAC’s ExtraHop Grand Virtual Launch held on the 21st of October.
“As with the rise of the digital economy and rapid speed of digitization across industries in Indonesia and the Philippines, cyber threats will not stop evolving, and neither should our efforts to fight against them. Through partnerships in Indonesia and the Philippines, we are rapidly extending our manpower and resources to help local businesses ensure the safety of their IT operations and data by continuously striving to improve our offerings,” said Aylwin Lam, Channel Sales Director of Asia and Japan at ExtraHop.
