Turnitin, a leading provider of academic integrity and assessment solutions, and Indonesia’s Universitas Terbuka (UT) have renewed their partnership for another year and will continue to provide Turnitin Feedback Studio to safeguard academic integrity in UT’s undergraduate programmes.

Since 2013, UT students and educators use Turnitin Feedback Studio to check writing for text similarity and deter plagiarism, receive and give meaningful feedback to turn misconduct into a learning moment, and streamline grading in flexible learning environments—in-person, hybrid, and remote. As proven by pandemic lockdowns, the need for accessible academic solutions is critical, making Universitas Terbuka’s mission to provide open and distance higher education for all even more important.

“Ensuring our undergraduates are equipped to produce impactful research underpins teaching and learning at UT, and through our partnership, Turnitin has helped us uphold the academic standards of our distance learning model for the best part of the last 10 years,” said Dimas Agung Prasetyo, M.S., department head, ICT, UT.

“As we have seen, hybrid and remote classrooms throw up drastically different challenges to authentic learning, and this partnership is necessary to ensure our undergraduate lecturers continue to offer guidance that promotes lifelong learning,” added Dimas.

Dimas continued, “With contract cheating, paper mills and the like becoming more prevalent, proactively addressing misconduct is crucial to protecting our reputation as a respected, digitally progressive campus.”

Yovita Marlina, Senior Manager, Customer Growth, Turnitin Southeast Asia said, “The renewal of this license with UT signals another step forward in our relationship and commitment to supporting students and educators.”

“Helping UT address the forms plagiarism and collusion take today continues our role as a solutions provider and adviser, which has assisted in strengthening the institution’s online and hybrid learning offerings for close to 10 years,” said Yovita.

“As an established partner, it is inspiring to see how UT has deployed technology to make higher education more accessible. We take pride in supporting these efforts, and look forward to collaborating with other institutions across Indonesia that are committed to the same ideals of rigorous and continuous improvement,” added Yovita.

Last year, Turnitin Feedback Studio was used by 30 million students globally to improve their writing and research. Users report a 50 percentage point decrease in plagiarism, while instructors say they have reduced the time spent grading by 38 percent.
